Curtis and Hailey

I have recently been attending a few conventions and seminars sponsored by the PPA, Professional Photographers Association, a nationwide, and statewide of accomplished and skilled image makers that also teach as a requirement for their credentials and titles. One of their goals is helping members to succeed by sharing their business model and techniques. Among them is the importance of the client relationship. While photography is a business we also want to have a relationship with the customer, no, client.  Sometimes, a good comparison is your family doctor. Usually, you return to his services because of the relationship and trust. I like thinking myself as " the  family photographer ".  A client has a birth in the family, a graduation, a wedding, the first birthday party, the first tooth falls out,  and they call the family photographer to capture a special moment in time.
So, about 10 yrs ago, while I was doing photography as a side job, a co-worker hires me to take head shots of her daughter, who wants to try fashion modeling. I later photographed her sister's one yr old in the Texas bluebonnet field, and other shots. So years passed, jobs changed, addresses and phone numbers changed and then, last month I am contacted through facebook. My 12 yr old client is now 22 yrs old and getting married! Her niece (in the bluebonnet field) was a bridesmaid.  With all the hundreds of photographers in the area, she chose me. It was like a reunion for me and I was so honored to be a part of their special day. Well, everyone needs photo updates for their wall and I am happy to splash just a little bit of art in it too!
